Not only do you need to update the latest information on Traffic Laws, you should also take care of your motorbike in a comprehensive and proper way to welcome the New Year of the Rat safely and completely.

Comply with traffic laws according to the new Decree of the Government

According to Decree 100 of the Government on Road Traffic Law, effective from January 1, 2020, many regulations on penalties for traffic violations have changed. Specifically, when you have drunk alcohol or stimulants with alcohol concentration, you are not allowed to drive.

Especially, during the New Year, Tet comes with happy parties with friends, New Year greetings to colleagues, lucky money to relatives, making it impossible for you to avoid drinking. Therefore, if you have drunk alcohol, it is best to arrange for someone else to drive or hire a Grab service, taxi, … to ensure safety and avoid being fined.

In addition, the penalty for speeding has increased significantly. If you drive a motorbike at a speed exceeding the limit by 5 to under 10km/h, you will be fined 200,000 – 300,000 VND; if you exceed the limit by 10 – 20km/h, the penalty is 600,000 – 1 million VND and your driving license will be revoked for 1 – 3 months. Meanwhile, if you exceed the limit by more than 20km/h, the penalty can be up to 5 million VND and your driving license will be revoked for 2-4 months.

Comply with traffic laws to celebrate Tet safely together

Another new point in Decree 100/2019/ND-CP is the increase in penalties for running red and yellow lights when participating in traffic. According to the law, when there is a yellow light signal, motorcyclists must stop before the stop line, except in cases where they have already passed the stop line, in which case they can continue.

In the case of a flashing yellow signal, they can go but must reduce speed. If a motorcyclist violates this error, he/she will be fined from 600,000 – 1,000,000 VND and have his/her driving license revoked for 1-3 months. Therefore, to have a safe and complete spring trip, you should pay attention to observe and comply with traffic light signals.

Comprehensive and proper motorbike maintenance

To make your spring trip smoother and more enjoyable, you should also check and maintain your vehicle before Tet with the following steps:

Polish and clean your vehicle: repaint, touch up and wipe off all dirt on the vehicle. However, vehicle owners should also be careful in choosing detergents and cleaning solutions, avoiding products with many industrial chemical ingredients because they can cause the paint on the vehicle to rust.

Check the brakes: If the brake pads are worn by about 2mm, you should replace them. In addition, vehicle owners should also pay attention to using brake fluid to help the brake pads work more durably.

Check the tires: make sure the tread on the tire is still there and maintains good friction. If the tire is too worn and shows signs of damage, you should replace it immediately.

Change the engine oil for a smoother spring trip

Change the engine oil: In addition to taking care of the exterior, owners should not forget to carefully maintain the internal parts of the motorbike to make the spring trip smoother. In particular, changing the engine oil is necessary to help the vehicle operate more smoothly.

Owners need to base on the type of vehicle: regular motorbike, scooter, manual clutch or large displacement, … to choose the appropriate and specialized engine oil product to maximize operating capacity as well as ensure durability and engine life.
